20 Things I Am Grateful For

I am starting a new year. In this post, I will be looking only at the things in my life I am grateful for. One time watching the GaryVee show on Youtube, he did a thought experiment that brought things into perspective. It went like this: imagine that one day you come home to meet your entire family murdered. I mean every single one of the people whose wellbeing matter to you. Just think about it. Let me repeat, they have been murdered in cold blood. You don’t like it when I repeat it like that, do you? I bet you don’t. When you do this thought experiment, your petty quarrels with a loved one becomes insignificant. When you take yourself out of the reverie, and remember that they are alive even if not well; then you feel grateful.

  1. I am grateful for the life of my parents. My mum means the world to me.
  2. I am grateful for the life of Gertrude Boateng. My naughty Getty. I love her bunch. The day she gets married I will cry like I have actually lost my balls. Lol!
  3. I am grateful for my life. Last year I was hardly ill. I thank God for keeping me strong. Truth is, I think I will still thank God if I had cancer with a tube in every hole in my body.
  4. I am grateful for my ability to fart. You may think I am disgusting, but honestly I enjoy a good fart! It’s so liberating!
  5. I thank God for food. You see, some people eat to live. I do the opposite. I live to eat. I am always looking forward to the next meal. I am a hopeless foodie.
  6. I am grateful for my bicycle. I have this really old bicycle that takes me everywhere, from church to campus. It’s a little ugly, but hey it’s got utility.
  7. I am grateful that I still believe in God. A while ago I was so far away from my Good Old Dad.
  8. I am grateful for the air I breathe. This sounds cliché, but I really do love inhaling the sweet Ghanaian air. This includes the stinking gutters. Ho!
  9. I am grateful for the internet. Boy, who would I be without the internet! Almost all the ideas in my head and the books I have read came right off the internet. God bless the internet, and God bless Google!
  10. I am grateful to the Electricity Company of Ghana’s Customer Service Personnel. Those guys are fantastic. The most patient and understanding folks I have ever spoken to. They never miss a call too. They are just great!
  11. I am grateful for the large glasses I wear. Sometimes I imagine myself born in a time when there were no lenses for short sighted people like me. I imagine being on a battle field, an arrow flying in the sky and being unable to see it coming towards me until it is very close.
  12. I am grateful for my smart phone. It is a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus or something like that. It is my constant companion.
  13. I am grateful for my teeth. I used to hate them. I have one incisor with a recessed conjunctiva, so one of my incisors looks like that of a tiger. But I have learnt to love them, at least more than my man boobs.
  14. I am grateful for my bed. Although it was colonized by bed bugs recently, it’s still one of my best places in the world. Boy, do I love sleep!
  15. I am grateful for my dad being broke. It has thought me how being illiquid feels like. Obstacles are the way. Thank God for problems.
  16. I am grateful that Ghana is a peaceful country. I hope it stays the same for a very long time.
  17. I am grateful that I can decide not to get clothes for next two years and I will still be fine. Not that I have too many clothes. I just do not care about what I wear! I am grateful I am this way. Life is pretty easy my way.
  18. I am grateful I have found a new way of combing my hair. Now I can grow an afro.
  19. I am grateful that I have some muscles around my arms now. They are not huge yet.
  20. This is the last one. Let me think… I. Am. Grateful. I. Am. In. Love. With. Myself. Not everyone does.
  21. I am grateful I have the woman in the image below in my life! Her name is Sefoakor. One crazy woman! Lol! This is a bonus.
